About us

Northern Ireland Frailty Network

The Northern Ireland Frailty Network was launched on the 28th March 2019 by Dr Michael McBride, Chief Medical Officer and Robert Ferguson, a Service User and Information Ambassador/ Peer Facilitator for Age NI. Since its inception in 2019, the Frailty Network has accumulated nearly 800 members from 80 organisations and others from the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain. It is led by the Public Health Agency, and the involvement of older adults in that work is supported by Age NI.

Our aim is to care for the population living with frailty, as well as maintaining a strong focus on prevention. We aim to enhance the awareness of frailty, as everybody should know what to do when presented with a person living with frailty, hence why our motto is:

‘Frailty is everybody’s business’

Membership is free and open to everyone.  To join up, simply email your name and contact details, along with job title / organisation (if applicable) to: frailtynetwork@hscni.net
